About Me
“Unpretentious biochemist, eclectic interests, appreciates the simpler pleasures of life”

Day trips are one of my favorite activities. I enjoy exploring quirky museums that portray life in the past (Mercer, Wheaton); or just driving through the countryside to view covered bridges, stopping along the way at quaint country inns. Amongst my other favorite activities are attending musical performances (Musikfest, Mann), plays (Arden), or discussions (Five Star Forum); gardening; cooking; watching the surf or any spectacular sunset or vista; and generally experiencing new pursuits.

I’m an avid lover of music that is distinctly noncommercial (WXPN, WRTI) and instrumental, in particular. My favorite genres run the gamut from blues to bluegrass, jazz, Celtic, Klezmer and other folk music, as well as some classical (mostly modern). I’m enthralled by the sound of the fiddle/violin and its cousin, the mandolin.

I have an inquisitive curiosity about the natural world around me and the people who inhabit it, both past and present. I have a keen interest in the way people lived and worked in the past. So I appreciate Victorian architecture, and enjoy exploring historical sites. I also keep abreast of current events, and like to comment upon them, sometimes irreverently. I read various newspapers, and about a dozen magazines. Amongst my favorite are the Smithsonian Magazine, Science News, and Old News.

During the summer, I enjoy gardening (perennials, annuals, veggies), the Shore, and picnics in the countryside. I love strolling leisurely through woods and gardens and arboretums.

I’m an adventuresome diner, an omnivore who enjoys most ethnic cuisines. I shop regularly at the Reading Terminal Market as I enjoy cooking. My repertoire extends from the mundane to the more elaborate (a style I refer to as peasant gourmet).

My personality is somewhat paradoxical. I’m not extroverted, yet I enjoy being with people. I’m somewhat of an individualist, but I don’t like to stand out in a crowd. In some ways, I’m a bit conservative; yet in other ways, I’m a bit offbeat. Although I’m an individual who enjoys relaxation, I also like to keep active, pursuing interesting endeavors. I have a variety of interests; and I’m always open to the exploration of, and even a fusion with, another ones interests (after all, that’s how you broaden your horizons). I also value honesty and communication in a relationship. And the only games I play typically involve a deck of cards.

Who I'm looking for
Most important to me is someone who is down-to-earth, and who enjoys the simpler pleasures of life. Someone with a variety of interests, and who is willing to explore a fusion of our interests. A confidant woman with a sense of humor, who has found a comfortable balance between being serious and playful. Someone who is educated, affectionate, and caring; and who values honesty and communication in a relationship. In summary, my equal, as one of those rare life-mates who can relate to each other on both the cerebral and visceral planes.
