About Me
Early on I enjoyed quite a bit of success in athletics and haven't slowed down. I played soccer at the college level in San Diego with people you might have seen on television and some you might have seen on the "pitch" while watching the World Cup. I know...BFD!
I've lived most of my life in the Bay Area, except for college down in San Diego and 3-4 months in Madrid. I had a decent level of Spanish before I got to Madrid; but, as anyone who studies language knows, it's a different ball game when you are listening to the language at lightening speed. One funny memory I'd like to relate occurred when I was dressed in a suit and earning the respect of others with my fine outfit, asked a man (in Spanish) who was standing in the lobby of a building; "Sir, where is the basement?"I just didn't clue into the fact that the word "sotano" (basement) is part of the address and that, they were in fact at that bulding; though, just in the basement. The guy laughed his head off, not expecting such a disparate remark from a well-dressed (and seemingly educated) man. Right as the words were coming out of my mouth my brain caught up and I knew immediately that I had said something completed ridiculous.
On the more serious side....I think most of my friends would describe me as friendly and loyal; my opponents on the soccer field would say that I am fair, fiercely competitive and worthy of their respect; and, that they would prefer to have me on their side rather than being forced to compete against me.
