About Me
I actually am a nice guy, or so my friends and staff tell me… though since they put me up to this their opinions may be suspect. I say what I mean, am honest to a fault and I conduct my life with dignity and honor. I am tremendously lucky to be paid to do a job that I would willingly pay someone to let me do. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, I moved to Fresno to pursue a degree in enology. The next several years were spent making wine in Napa and on the Central Coast (where Sideways was filmed) before deciding to make world class Cabernet and Tempranillo. That's right, I'm a winemaker. Like many in my profession, I took leave of my senses several years ago and started a winery. I bought into the romance, the lifestyle… the whole kit and caboodle. Lest you think I’ve lost my grip I did keep my day job, I own a learning center, yet I’m most likely found walking the vineyards with my dog Elsa or barrel sampling our newest Cabernet blend. Although I’m a pretty darn good winemaker, I’m not a spectacular cook. I have an adversarial relationship with my oven… what doesn’t burn doesn’t cook; I can however, broil, saut?, and grill; I’ve even been known to wok. Good food (i.e. that which has not resided in my oven) is a source of tremendous pleasure. I enjoy theater, art and music which provide an excuse to travel LA and Napa with some regularity where exploring new restaurants and cuisines is an added bonus. By now you’ve probably gathered that I’m somewhat of a hedonist at heart. A few other things that describe me are: I am quick witted and enjoy the same in others. I have an easy smile. I am a loyal and generous friend. I entertain frequently. I practice yoga to stay fit both mentally and physically. I’m an avid photographer; though, admittedly, not a very good one. I like long conversation on a variety of topics ranging from literature to politics. I read the Times and the Economist. I love a good bottle of wine and a great conversation to go with it.
