My first taste of reality came on the day of my birth in the form of being held upside down and smacked on the ass. Initial refusal to acknowledge such sadistic familiarity from a person I just barely met terminated in an instant replay of the procedure. Had I known then what I know now, I would've sued the doctor who delivered me for repeated sexual harassment. At the tender age of five, I became curious about the opposite sex. This proved to be most unfortunate as it resulted in me kissing a girl, getting in trouble with the kindergarten teacher, and having the fear of God and my mother put in me. My mother was worse than God due to more immediate proximity. Second grade was quite momentous in many respects. That year, I broke my left arm in a fight, developed a very close and personal relationship with the school principal, and consequently, became a test subject for my father's weekly experiments in Pavlovian responses. The hypothesis was that if my butt was whooped every Saturday, I'd mend my misbehaving ways and become more studious. I've shown myself to be more determined than doves and dogs. Father finally gave up from sheer futility. Six grade was my last in Russia. That summer, my family immigrated to the States, surprisingly taking me with them. There was a parent-teacher conference at the end of the school year during which I was the lengthiest topic of conversation. Most present believed that playing cards in geography class and upsetting the gym teacher to the point of chasing me around the gym with a yardstick, among other things, were solid grounds for expulsion. Interestingly enough, at the very time of the conference, I was boarding a plane to Vienna (the first step of immigrating to US back in 1989) so they didn't quite get the satisfaction they were anticipating from their decision. ... :)
