About Me
I was born in Seattle, but haven’t lived there since I can remember. I was raised by a Jewish mother and a Christian father. There are more than enough jokes about that, I wont leave any of them here. I grew up in Japan with both parents in the Air Force, so the military had somewhat of a draw to me.
I have spent 16 years in the Army and with that comes a lot of travel. Germany, Bosnia, and of course Iraq, not to mention the middle of nowhere Kansas. I spent over two years in Iraq where I was an interrogator, programmer, and animator. I became fluent in Arabic and was amazed at how similar it is to Hebrew. What that meant was that I was an Intel Analyst. I was commissioned this year, still regretting that, and the Army made me their finest Artillery Officer. Still waiting to see if I like this job as much as the last.
I am divorced after fourteen years. Married at seventeen can lead to some bumpy roads.
I am still an animator and spend most of my free time on those projects. I like red wine (Pinot Niors) but will kick back with a beer about once a month. I take pictures of everything, so I guess that makes me into photography as well. I also draw a lot and of course play guitar. Then I somehow find time to fit in some reading from time to time. I usually catch up on the classic literature that I somehow never got to read during my time here. Currently For Whom the Bell Tolls by Hemmingway.
I have not been to Synagogue since moving to Oklahoma, but am looking to start.
Last thing, I am retiring from the Army in a few years (at 37 years old) and I plan to move out to California to continue as an animator working on movie special effects. May not be California, who knows.
Thanks for reading,
Rich
