I've finished graduate school and started a really promising professional job in Rockford working for the city government as an urban planner. I'm 80 miles from Chicago and 70 miles from Madison, so it's a very easy location for weekend trips to bigger cities with more young women, not that I'm giving up on the Rockford region for my social life so quickly. A few things I'd like to do now that I've moved and settled in to my new home and job, is to explore the Northern Illinois and Wisconsin region. I'm not a rugged outdoorsman, but I would like to hike around the many parks in the area and visit quirky small towns which seem to be just a short drive from here. I also really get into diversifying my music tastes and exploring new bands. You think I would want to be away from my computer after being at one all day at work, but many evenings one of the most relaxing things for me to do is scan the Web for mp3s (mostly of the legal kind), and schedule trips to Chicago for indie-rock concerts. I've also attended symphony concerts and orchestra shows and have appreciated them all. If that's your type of thing I think we will get along really well.

In shifting from a student life to working stiff life, I'd like to establish a routine that involves eating freshly cooked food (I want to improve my cooking skills to a much greater degree), going to the gym, and just being very socially engaged during my off hours. Being a student in Chicago was a blast but my professional goals bring me to a place that is a little more slow-paced, where unfortunately you aren't running into opportunities to meet young Jewish people everywhere you go. Hopefully this online tool will help me stay connected with the larger Jewish community and give me some nice opportunities to something with somebody special on the weekends.
