About Me
Life is good - I feel so lucky : ) I'm a full-time MSW/PhD student and mom to a great 3rd grader. I study corporations' workplace practices and how they impact low-wage employees and their families (I'm trying to figure out how they can do things better). I love reading, playing, and laughing with my little boy, being active (hiking, yoga, walks by the lake, bike riding when forced, workouts at home once my son is in bed), enjoying friends and community, experiencing the arts whenever I can. An active Jewish life, in the Reform tradition, is meaningful to me–we have nice dinners and do only fun stuff on Shabbat (no Target runs or laundry!) and are part of a liberal congregation that’s both social action oriented and spiritually focused. Holidays are fun…I’m not a great cook, but I make a mean hamantaschen and my honey cake gets better every year. I love kids. For my MSW training, I did psychotherapy with at-risk preschoolers and it was so rewarding to nurture kids who need and deserve it and aren't getting enough of it at home. I would love to raise another child. As much as I love children and parenting, my career is important to me. While I was in HR consulting, I saw how hard work-family issues were for low-wage workers and chose graduate school and research as a way to help vulnerable families. When I'm not reading, writing, or parenting, I’m fortunate to have a single-adult-life since my son spends time with his dad each week. I would love to share that time with the right man. I’m self-aware and have worked hard to understand what I need from, and what I have to offer to, a partner. I’m optimistic, honest, open, and able to make it safe for someone to share with me. I’m supportive, caring, and interested in who you are, how you got to be that person, and who you are trying to become.
